Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per l’Informatica (CINI, is a consortium of 36 Italian Universities involving their Computer Science and Computer Engineering research groups.

It was established in 1990 as a non-profit organization to foster the co-operation of Italian computer scientists and engineers in nation-wide and international projects. The consortium operates under surveillance of the Ministry for Education, University and Research (MIUR) and the Ministry for Economic Development.

The mission of CINI is to promote and coordinate scientific, research and transfer-of-knowledge activities in the field of information technology, in accordance with the relative national community, and to support the collaboration of the partners with the universities, institutes of higher education, research centers, industries, and Public Administration.
